Other Ferintosh (Taunahinch, Braelangwell,Findon)

The land where they named Ferintosh is originally a place where they stood many chapels and it's located on the eastern side of Conon Bridge of Black Isle. It is said that the Forbes owned 6500acres of this area. There stood 29 small distilleries at Black Isle in 18th century. After the distilleries of the Forbes were closed, Taunahinch(1814,1828) and Braelangwell (1826,1843) took over the Ferintosh Whisky and continued distilling. But, they were all gone in 1840's. Now, part of the distillery remains it's name but they are used as a farmland. In those days when you talk about distilling spirits, the name of Ferintosh meant the whole area of Black Isle. After that in 1879, they built a distillery called Ferintosh Distillery in other word Ben Wyvis, at Dinsgwall.
